In an interview with IRNA’s foreign policy correspondent on Tuesday, Abdollah Sohrabi said that President Raisi’s taking office and his view about neighboring countries is a golden opportunity in the region and it has already begun to produce outcome after just six months.
He highlighted the issue of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and said that cultural and social proximity and lasting relationship between Iran and these countries have always been an opportunity.
Sohrabi described Qatar as a country with high political intelligence, saying that the country has prepared a landscape for itself with regards to its political view and economic activity, especially in the last two decades.
Qataris have enough knowledge of Iran’s capabilities, potentials, and geopolitical and geo-economic position; also, they were the second country that recognized the Islamic Republic of Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he noted.
The official also mentioned the plethora of agreements, negotiations and MoUs between Iran and Qatar, which remain unimplemented due to some obstacles, adding that the President’s trip is a good opportunity to operationalize those deals.
